Hi Folks,

Come on down to the Square Dance tonight!  Bear witness to how bicycles truly bring people together.
There is going to be some serious talent in the house playing old-time music, calling dances and sharing baked and brewed goods.  (Suggested donation $10.  Donate what you can ; we won't turn you away for lack of funds)

We even got our hands on a DVD of Tilda Swinton riding her bicycle along the Berlin Wall for an hour in 1988 (before it fell) and again in 2009.  We are going to project it at the square dance.  AWESOME!

Only Three Days Remain....

Behind that window lies a space twice as large as where we are now. Outside there's a small parking lot enclosed by a wrought iron fence and an electric sign on a post. Pretty simple. For now.

It's where we're planning to move later this spring and it's headed for a transformation. Hopefully.

We'll receive it empty, stainless, and quiet. We want to fill it with people, bikes, parts, tools, noise, creativity, and community. We want to create the bicycle co-op of our dreams - and we will. Hopefully.

We're so close to reaching our goal of raising enough money for the down payment. We're full of gratitude and excitement. We know we can do this.

Square Dance on the 28th!

Square is how we roll, How 'bout you?

On Saturday, April 28th from 9opm-12pm, come on down to Frogtown to dance with us!

Our dear friends Triple Chicken Foot, along with The Stoney Point Sword Swallowers, will be providing the tunes, and the dances will be called by the one and only Susan Michaels.

All of the fun is going to be happening at Nomad Studios, a real gem of a space, located at 1993 Blake Avenue, LA, CA 90039.

There will be a requested donation of $10 at the door, and all of the dough will go towards the Bicycle Kitchen's purchase of a permanent home!

For those who arrive by bicycle, there will be complementary bike valet provided by LACBC.

Also, a big thanks to John and Michelle of Popcycle Treats for their help in raising funds for our new home! They collected donations for us while selling their amazing popsicles at cicLAvia. Thanks friends!

(Also, next time you see their orange tricycle around town, you MUST try the coconut chocolate popsicle. It's our favorite.)

CicLAvia was uh-MAZING!

A huge thank you to all of you fine bikey friends who visited us during CicLAvia this past Sunday! It was a perfect day that was full of smiling faces and sunshine. Another thank you has to go out to all of our fantastic Cooks and Shadows who helped with the tire pumping, shirt selling and bake sale staffing.

While the hustle bustled outside in the street, some of us were inside the Kitchen soaking in some serious cuteness & hanging out with babies of all kinds! Here are some photos of the beautiful day we all shared...

What? Yes! It's true, we - the volunteers of the Bicycle Kitchen - are thisclose to buying a building of our very own. We promise to share more details about space itself VERY soon but rest assured, it'll nearby, bigger, badder, and more OWNED than ever before!

Do you know where we can have a square dance?

As many of you fine bike buddies may know, we are going to soon be kicking off a fundraising campaign to raise $ to buy a building with.

As part of the campaign, we are planning on having a good-ol square dance on the 28th of this month. We already have Triple Chicken Foot on board, so you know this is going to be a good time!

Thing is, we have yet to find a place to hold it. Do you know of a spot that would be free or dirt cheap where we can all get together and dance at on the 28th? If you do, please float an email to Sunday Cook kris10 at kris10erickson[at]gmail.com.
